WHAT TO DO IF YOU ARE FEELING SUICIDAL
Please, please, please, take the time to talk to someone. The taking your life is too final of a decision to not talk about. There are many groups out there waiting for your call. While no one can truly understand the depth of the pain that you are currently feeling, there are those who want to listen and want you to know that you are not alone. Crisis intervention hotlines accept calls from the suicidal, or anyone who wishes to discuss a problem. Below is a list of just a few people you could talk to.
Who to contact if you are feeling suicidal
- Call the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline at 1-800-273-8255 (TTY:1-800-799-4TTY)
- Teenagers, call Covenant House NineLine, 1-800-999-9999
- Send an anonymous e-mail to The Samaritans
- Look in the front of your phone book for a crisis line
- Call a psychotherapist
- Carefully choose a friend or a minister or rabbi, someone who is likely to listen
- Visit www.befrienders.org to find a local helpline, listings include local numbers for about 60 countries
